Experience in the Industry: One of the reasons we selected Bowers was because of its experience in the industry. We trusted that you had designed and remodeled enough houses to know what you were doing in order to deliver on time while also ensuring the least stressful experience for us.
We saw you as professionals who treated your employees, as well as your clients, with respect. We appreciated that your employees were employees – with benefits and timecards – not just random people you picked up off the street each morning.
We trusted that you were experienced enough that if you told us the project would take X amount of time, barring unforeseen craziness, it would take X amount of time – as long as we did our part on time, too.
You knew the State and County codes and how to work with the County to get the variance for our garage. You were able to guide us through the design process for the house and garage knowing what would and would not be allowed so we did not waste time or money on designs the County would not approve…
We want to thank the Bowers Design Build team for helping us design and build a new home out of our existing one. Bowers’ architecture and interior design team listened to our needs and delivered a comprehensive design that was perfect for the way we wanted to live in this home. During construction, our dedicated lead carpenter was an excellent craftsman and project manager. Every Bowers employee went above and beyond to ensure that the house was ready for us to move back into as services were closing due to the pandemic in March 2020. We are especially grateful for their efforts to arrange beds and furniture in time for our son and daughter to stay with us to weather the outbreak in New York City at that time. Bowers Design Build was the third construction company we’d worked with and by far performed the best. Our experience was overall very positive. The Bowers team was very professional, responsive and in general, good people. We loved having a dedicated Site Manager on the project every day and another supervisor that came to the project at least once a week to have a second set of eyes review the quality of construction. We hired Bowers Design Build to design and build an interior renovation that included a kitchen, mudroom, pantry and powder room. We also added a screened porch and deck addition. We are very pleased with the finished product. We appreciated the talent of Bowers team. Everyone was very easy to interact with and we valued their eye for the details. We have really appreciated working with Bowers Design Build on four major projects at our home. We have never had great experiences with designers before but the Bowers staff has been amazing. Their designer got our style/ideas right away and worked very hard at getting just the right look. This letter is a long time coming and I hope it finds you well. As you know, Becky and I are elated with the renovation that the Bowers team completed in our home. As such, I thought I would take sometime to express well-deserved recognition and thanks. In some ways, I am in a unique position to write this letter as 1) we have now lived in the renovated house for several months post completion and 2) my experience in the real estate and construction business affords me the opportunity to understand “what it takes” to get the job done. To specifically state why we are so happy is difficult, but I will try:
- Guiding us through the concept – This took a tremendous amount of patience on your behalf. Bruce’s personal attention to this matter served us well as we fluctuated from more too less, from down to up, and from outside to inside. What struck me most was his persistence and guidance as he let us come to our own decisions without bringing the pressure of time. Somehow, I think he knew where we were going, but through his presentations and our discussions, let us get comfortable with our final decisions before we moved on.
- Executing the project – Trust, accountability, professionalism, courtesy, and dependability. These are all words that are used in any industry when operations are discussed. The mantra of “on time and on budget” is often spoken but seldom achieved. Indeed, in the construction industry, we often wrestle with whose at fault rather than how to resolve. The Bowers team is definitely a “how to resolve” team. They always kept the end goal in mind as they successfully navigated schedules and budgets while achieving the high quality product we desired from the outset. We actually reflect on the project with words like “ fun” and “exciting”. This is in striking contrast to friends who have used competitors of yours leading to descriptions like “never again”.
- Personnel – A very special thanks to Bruce Meechum and all the tradesman who worked in our home. The simple act of dependency and politeness goes a long way when you are sharing a house with the construction trades. Unequivocally, a 100% A+ mark! Another special thanks to Gigi Parr, her interior design talents helped a modern oriented husband blend concepts with a more traditionally oriented wife.
After 25 years in commercial construction, I knew our renovation project would require special attention that would deliver success on all fronts. Simply stated, The Bowers team delivered. Becky, I, Meg and Anna… and yes, our dog Brandy all love the new digs. The joint effort you fostered transformed the place we lived into our home for sometime to come. We would definitely use Bowers again. Before we started the project, we didn’t appreciate the complexity and extensiveness of the design phase. The Bowers design team took this from a project we would probably have been content with to one we are exceedingly happy with. We have cooked many meals in our new kitchen; we wouldn’t change a thing (and Ron is a quite hard-to-please home chef). The “smartness” of the Bowers team was soooo gratifying and reassuring. People “got” what you wanted and made it better. Taking two feet from the dining room was a genius idea. And, preserving the butcher block and putting it on wheels… great. Our house had a small 1960s kitchen and no family room on the main level. We desperately needed more kitchen space and a room that could double as family living space, as well as be nice enough for entertaining. Bowers’ attention to detail from the design phase through the construction phase was wonderful. They treated our home as if it were their own. Since we lived in the house during construction, they made sure the house was clean every day, made sure we could function in the house after they left each afternoon, and we could set our clock on how reliable they were with commitments. We were almost sorry when it was over. Now, when we are in our house, we feel like we are on vacation. Bowers was a joy to work with.
We did a whole house remodel that won a National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) award. The award was flattering, but more importantly, our overall experience with Bowers Design Build was great. Not only is the quality of their work wonderful, but they were easy to work with. They were very good about being clean and safety conscious around our children. The project was well scheduled and met our budget expectations to the dollar. We especially appreciated their calm approach and personal attention.

We had done a previous renovation in our home and chose not to use that company again. We hired Bowers Design Build with high expectations and we were not disappointed. We did a large renovation with the Bowers team including our main living area; kitchen, breakfast area, and family room. My husband and I have contracted with Bowers for multiple renovation projects -kitchen addition/patio installation/sunroom/laundry room, bathrooms and have been totally, satisfied. Our working relationships with the staff have been great -timely, trustworthy, straightforward, fair. They kept to the budget and were timely except when weather slowed us down. We and everyone visiting are so impressed with the lovely design of our eat-in kitchen and flagstone patio with stone stack retainlng wall. The quality of their workmanship, attention to detail, and willingness to solve problems made complicated projects much easier to handle, especially when we were juggling little kids and working while they were in our house. When we needed to increase our home’s accessibility for a disability at short notice, they made us a priority, installing an elevator, handrails, etc. I recommend them without reservation. I love all the changes to my home. I appreciated how Bowers held all their work to high standards, even higher than my own at times. The project was well run and I especially loved the project binder that kept all the selections and project notes organized. I could set my clock on their arrival every day and when I asked them to do a few “honey do” projects around the house; they pleasantly did them without charging me. Everyone on the team was very courteous and it was clear they were all focused on my total satisfaction.
Bowers did a large renovation on our home. We sincerely trusted the team, which was very important to us. We finished our whole house renovation more than two years ago and we still walk into our house and say “We love our home”. The Bowers team has been great.
