Team Profiles

Bruce has been in the construction industry for most of his lifetime. He started his first construction company at age 18. After graduating from the University of Maryland with a degree from the School of Architecture, Bruce was a Project Manager for some of the largest developments in Northern Virginia. In 1990, Bruce started Bowers Design Build. In short order, he started winning local acclaim for transforming the homes in the McLean area. He sincerely enjoys designing unique, yet practical spaces for all his clients and is passionate about great craftsmanship and customer service. When Bruce is not busy with his clients, he enjoys coaching McLean Youth Soccer.

After a 19-year career as head of Corporate Advertising and Brand Management with Verizon Communications, Wilma joined Bowers in 2001 to help manage the growing business. Wilma makes sure that Bowers’ business processes accentuate the company’s ability to offer the best design and construction services possible. Wilma is a PTSA Officer at McLean High School and a member of the Athletic Boosters Club. She is also a Board Member and Past President of the Longfellow Middle School PTA. Wilma is School Board appointee to the Fairfax County Public School curriculum review committee and is an active parent in McLean Youth Soccer.

John has been a leader in the remodeling industry for more than a decade. His management experience with several large corporations is a tremendous asset to Bowers’ clients. He is the Past President and Chairman of the Board of the Washington Metropolitan Chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), a professional industry organization. He also served on the NARI National Strategic Planning Committee and was the recipient of the 2002 AND 2007 NARI Image Award, 2003 President’s Award for Outstanding Service to the association, and the 2006 NARI Hall of Fame Award. John is an avid golfer and enjoys traveling with his family.

David is a building construction expert. His responsibility is to ensure that client’s project gets built as effectively and efficiently as possible. David has worked for several large builders across the U.S. and has managed the construction and construction processes for hundreds of homes. He brings a wealth of knowledge to every Bowers’ project. David spends his free time on the hiking trails of Northern Virginia or wandering through DC-area museums and gardens with his wife and 2 year-old daughter.

Mark has more than 25 years of experience in the building industry, ranging from owning his own design firm to working for the region’s largest developers. His expertise in every aspect of construction is a significant benefit to our clients. As a registered architect, Mark understands design. His design prowess, combined with his years of construction management, ensures that our high quality designs are also cost effective and can be built with long lasting integrity. When this father of four children has any spare time, he loves to golf and work on cars.

Karla is often the first person you’ll speak to when you call our office. Karla supports our company on all our administrative tasks so that our team can focus on producing a beautiful project for our clients and create a great experience for them as well.

Dawn C.

Dawn keeps track of all the billing and collecting functions and supports our clients by keeping all our accounting processes user-friendly.

Jack has worked in the residential design industry for nearly twenty years and has received some of the areas highest design award honors; including awards in Green Building. Jack excels at hand design as well as computer aided design and has been an innovator in developing software and other techniques to enhance the client experience. When he is not busy designing for Bowers’ clients, Jack enjoys time with his wife and children. He is active in his church and in his son’s Boy Scout troop.

Manuela Scarsi, AIA

Manuela has worked in a variety of architectural positions in Rome, Italy; San Diego, California; and in the DC area. Her experiences span from preserving and restoring historical buildings to designing for private residences. She is a high energy designer who excels at diligently working to find the best design solutions for our clients. Manuela is fluent in four languages and enjoys time with her husband and son.

Bill has more than 20 years of design and product management experience in the home building industry. This experience makes him an excellent resource for our clients. Bill excels at designing unique and beautiful spaces. Bill particularly loves to keep abreast of the latest trends in architecture and he reads industry magazines on the topic religiously. Bill has been part of the Bowers award-winning design team for several Nationally Ranked award winning homes.

Gigi has over 20 years experience in the decorating business in the McLean area. A color expert, Gigi also excels at listening to clients to identify the look and feel they want in their home. She can translate customer desires into recommendations of specific products that will help the client achieve the functionality and personality they seek in their rejuvenated home. From the basic to the extraordinary, Gigi helps Bowers clients achieve the finished look that will draw rave reviews. When she is not antiquing, Gigi loves to spend time with her husband, children and grand-children. Gigi was the interior decorator on the Bowers home featured on HGTV.
