The homeowner’s objectives were to improve their family room by making it more connected with the kitchen. They also wanted to increase the functionality of the kitchen so that more than one cook could work there effectively. Lastly, they wanted the size/layout/function of the mud room to be improved. We removed part of the wall between the family room and kitchen to better connect the spaces. We took one of the three garage bays and converted some of the gained space it into a mudroom, laundry room and powder room. The remaining space was utilized to completely reorganize the kitchen.

The new kitchen has lots of task and decorative light and improved circulation. The pantry is now a walk-in with three sides of floor to ceiling storage.
