This family loved their lot and neighborhood; but they wanted their home to be more livable and to take advantage of their great wooded lot. We made improvements to their home, including a new screened porch to, as they put it, “embrace the trees and light in their yard”. They wanted to be able to eat, recline and overall enjoy the outdoors while being bug-free. We designed and built a 16 X 14 screened porch overlooking their back yard to meet their needs.
Before: Exterior Space. The before exterior space did not have convenient access from the main level of the home.
After: Screened Porch. The new screened porch has convenient access from the main level of the home and provides bug-free dining and lounging space.
After: There is plenty of space for relaxing and dining. The door includes a doggie door for easy access to the fenced yard. The flooring features Tongue and Groove Composite Decking from Azek (Series: Arbor Series Color/Finish: Morado)
The stain grade fir wood ceiling helps to visually connect the screened porch to the wooded yard beyond. Soft grey tones used in the paint also provides a soothing palette that relates to the outdoors. The 54″ Minka Aire ceiling fan provides a cooling effect when the wind isn’t blowing through the screens.
The before exterior space wasn’t inviting at all.
The after screened porch really allows the outside space to be used nearly year-round. Access from the yard or the main level of the home gives the homeowners, their guests and their dog options to get to the space easily.

After: The after screened porch looks like it has always been a part of the house. It blends seamlessly, old with the new.
We painted the gutters to match the screened porch exterior paint to camouflage them.
Whether it’s dining or relaxing, this screened porch allows the homeowner to enjoy their yard bug-free.
