2022 PRO Remodeler of the Year Merit Award Winner

The homeowners wanted a completely renovated primary suite.

  • The bathroom was outdated and lacked some specific desired features.
  • The bedroom was overly large with a sitting room that became a disorganized space with no designated purpose.
  • And… they needed more closet space.

We reconfigured the entire existing footprint to meet the overall client objectives while adding functionality and attractive, modern finishes.

Homeowner’s Objectives:

  • Updated, more modern primary suite… bedroom, closets and bathroom.
  • Better organized space with a relaxing theme.
  • His and her walk-in-closets/dressing areas.
  • Renovated bathroom with:
    – Large glass enclosed shower with bench seat.
    – Modern soaking tub.
    – His and hers vanity areas with storage.

BEFORE: Second Floor Renovation. The home had enough space. It just wasn’t configured in a way that met the client’s lifestyle. By completely repurposing the existing footprint, we were able to redefine the space.

BEFORE: You entered the owner’s suite through double doors off the hallway.

BEFORE: When you walked through the double doors, you saw a seldom used fireplace and clutter in the sitting room.

BEFORE: Once inside the owner’s suite, the large sitting room became a dumping spot for most everything. The disorganization was visually and emotionally distracting. The ceiling treatments over the bed and sitting area were dated and not in keeping with the desired style of the home.

AFTER: Our reorganization starts in the hallway. Relocating the entry point to the end of the hall allowed us to more easily repurpose the sitting room. Fresh, soft gray paint and the additional of more recessed general lighting make the space more pleasant. We modified and extended the wainscoting to make the space look as if it had always been this way.

AFTER: The new entry replaces the unnecessary “BEFORE” double doors. Beautiful artwork is now the focal point of the entry way vs. the former clutter in the sitting room.

AFTER: The new entry hallway allows for a new, gracious linen closet and leads to the remodeled bathroom and “his” closet.

Interior Renovations in McLean Virginia

BEFORE: The former walk-in-closet was too small to accommodate his and her clothing, shoes and accessories in an organized fashion.

AFTER: The former shared walk-in-closet is now “his” closet/dressing area. It adds the space and functionality the client wanted. Custom built-ins house all folded clothing. Dark gray stain over maple cabinetry. There is plenty of room for his hanging clothes to be organized and more easily accessed. His chandelier is Currey and Co. “Eduardo” in natural brass accompanied by recessed lighting. Drawer unit top is quartz in Onda Grigio. His closet paint is Solitude by Benjamin Moore.

AFTER: Shower is luxurious and practical. Bench seat in Onda Grigio quartz provides a safe place to sit. The linear drain under the bench avoids a clumsy drain in the center of the shower. Lower wall tile is 12 X 24 marble tile in “Snow White”. Accent tile is marble Ponte Basket pattern from L’Ac Porcelanosa Group. Fixed and hand-held shower heads extend functionality.
