Kitchen Renovation

These homeowners wanted to update their kitchen, improving the work flow, and creating more “home office” functionality in the space. In addition, they wanted to have a greater connection between the kitchen and family room, and have a feature wall with a stunning stove, wall tile and range hood.

The before kitchen.

The new kitchen is updated and stunning. We designed a coffered ceiling for this new kitchen. The ceiling adds dimension to the project and increases the aesthetics of the design. However, due to the positioning of existing plumbing, HVAC and second floor joists, we couldn’t build a typical 12 or 16 box ceiling. To accommodate existing conditions, yet still achieve the polished look the homeowner wanted, we built an asymmetrical, nine-box coffered ceiling. The three middle boxes are square the outer six boxes are rectangle. The finished product is beautiful.

A built-in banquet and knee wall allow the kitchen to be more open to the family room.

This wall used to house several pantry/storage areas.

The pantry/storage was moved to the mudroom in order to create a built in desk area in the kitchen.

Overall Results of the Project:
The homeowner is very pleased with the final results. We were able to meet all their desires in the space. We updated the look and functionality of the kitchen. We added lots of desk space for “her” home office. We built a banquet to accommodate family meals and tie the kitchen space to the family room. Lastly, we achieved the feature wall the client wanted, including a great stove, range hood, tile wall and added a little touch of copper with the pot filler.
